About Ultimutt
Founded and Directed by Kiyoko Czibere RVT, Ultimutt Pet Rescue strives to provide the best veterinary care for all of the dogs that come into our at- home shelter and foster community. Originating in Ontario, Toronto, we have many adoptive families and a small network of support locally. Pet Valu Hurontario & Eglington was so amazing to us through their pet events and donations. Since we have relocated to the Annapolis Valley, Nova Scotia as my fiance is in the Canadian Armed ForcesThrough client education, full transparency and thorough explanation of any medical concerns each pet may have, including potential breed specific health concerns families can be at ease knowing our rescues are completely vetted and behaviourally assessed before going home! I offer lifetime assistance via text in regards to nutrition, behaviour or medical needs of your new family member, including triaging for emergency questions.
Our rescues mostly come from Northern remote communties in Canada primarily Ontario and Manitoba, that do not have access to veterianry care. We also get transfers from various shelters, rescue partners or owner surrenders. Occasionally we have taken in dogs from out of country, but try to focus primarily on Canadian dogs.
I have recently started offering assitance to local shelters and rescues to promote their dogs and help find them their families using our network & my support! If you are a rescue partner or shelter associate, please email me at ultimuttpetrescue@gmail.com with more details to schedule a meeting with me and the pet in need; I do not charge anything for this service

Fostering Saves Lives
As a newer rescue we am just starting to expand our foster family. To be approved, please email us to fill out our foster package to understand what we expect of you, and our canine application to ensure the foster is suitable for you as well!
We are looking for experienced dog owners to accomodate an additional dog in their household, or as an only dog depending on their individual needs.
In this we set our rescues up for success with everything they need to benefit their socialization and growth.
We focus on routine, standardized care and open communication. I am personally in direct contact with all of my fosters via text every day, I want to hear from you about our pup and know how they are doing, with photo updates! I will provide any advice for anything you have questions or concerns about, will provide all the supplies needed for them at home, and as requested to help you take the best care of them in their new environment. I will Amazon you shipments!
We know decompression time is important but as a dog owner, and veterinary professional, I try my best to let the pet settle but not so long that they think they are staying, only to be taken away into another routine and household by an approved adopter. If you as a foster choose to adopt your foster, we do give you first priority within 10-14 days of fostering the pet. This is why we preapprove you and best match the foster to you, in the beginning.
We look forward to having you join our Ultimutt foster family!
Incorporated April 2023!
As an independant and privately owned directed and funded rescue, we have made the decision to Incorporate! We noticed an influx of funds required for our vet bills, food and accessories, transport, and event planning. Operated primarily from home, I often am paying out of pocket and find that I am no longer able to keep track of my spending and balancing of adoption fees to fund Ultimutt.
Working with an accountant, writing off things like gas, hydro and water as well as deducting things for tax purposes we hope this will help us continue to help animals in need, and help you with their transition & initial vet care.
It has remained in our best interest to stay as an incorporation moving forward.
Thank you for your continued support,
Kiyoko, Registered Veterinary Technician

I truly appreciate your support through this time and our transition out to the east coast.
I am working on making connections with local rescues, community members and shelters to see what is in dire need and what Ultimutt can do to help.
While we settle in to our new home, I am working on rennovating a room for our shelter and collecting resources to be able to provide them the necessary care on intake.
I would love to do an auction to raise money and join with some local rescues, if anyone would like to help with this, please reach out!
Inspired by my sweetheart Josie, a blind cocker spaniel puppy who showed me how much I love rescue and because of her, I have rescued, often raised, rehabilitated, and found homes for over 400 dogs in need since 2021
